Funds for mobility projects with higher education institutions

National Agencies in some Programme Countries will be opening a second round of applications under the 2016 call for International Credit Mobility Key Action 1, giving their institution the opportunity to apply for funding for mobility projects with higher education institutions across the globe.

This second round of applications will close on 15 September 2016 at 12:00 noon (Brussels time). Applications will be limited to those regions for which funds are still available after the first round of applications. These are likely to include some or all of the following: South Mediterranean, Western Balkans, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, and Russia

Any higher education institution can apply, including those that have already secured funding for a given project, or those that did not apply or were unsuccessful in securing funding for the first round of applications.

International Culture Week – Debate Summer Academy

From 28 July to 20 August 2016 the Debate Academy in  Pécs, Hungary organizes an Intensive debate training series including a youth forum conference, discussions, lectures, debate trainings, and a debate tournament. The main theme of the academy is “Ongoing Migration Crisis and Central Europe – Europe in a Global Context from Visegrad Perspective”.

Participating students can discuss the questions of today’s major challenges, discover the possible threats and outcomes of the most relevant and timely issues and talk over connecting critical questions. The key lectures are going to be held by acclaimed scientists and young professionals.

This Summer School will give you an opportunity to do more than just study! Special attention is paid to providing the participants with a very enjoyable and unforgettable stay. Their social programmes include concerts, trip to the countryside, interactive events, karaoke party, sport contests, the discovery of the best pubs in town and the best intercultural party, the Country Show.

The programme is open to ALL students with a good level of English.  The fee for 2016 is €350 (€ 300 if you apply on the first deadline).

Youth Essay Competition 2016

European SME Week, under the patronage of the European Commissioner for Single Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, has launched a youth essay contest aimed young people between 16 and 25 year old.

Participants will have to write an essay in English, of maximum 2,500 words, answering the question: “What can the EU do to encourage more young people to become entrepreneurs?”.

The first prize winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the SME Assembly in Bratislava, Slovakia, in November, where the essay will be presented to an audience of over 600 delegates from the world of enterprise and entrepreneurship. 2nd and 3rd prize winners will have their video presenting their essays streamed on the event wall at the SME Assembly.

All winners will receive promotion of their essays across SME Week social media channels. Winners will be announced in Brussels in November.

The James Dyson Award 2016 has been launched!

The aim of the James Dyson award is to support recent graduates of design or engineering who have a problem-solving idea.

The award is open to product design, industrial design, and engineering university students or graduates within the past 4 years, who have studied in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK and USA.
Teams are also encouraged to enter, provided at least one team member studies (or has studied within 4 years) product design, industrial design, or engineering at university.

Entrants are invited to submit sketches and images of models and prototypes demonstrating the research and development process (including testing and design for manufacture).

Deadline: 19 July 2016 at 11.59 EST.
